Jesse Hooker was the leader of the clan and the lover of Diamondback. He and Diamondback are later killed when they decide to chase after Caleb, Sarah and Mae, and the car exploded.

Not much is known about Jesse, except that he fought for the South in the Civil War. It's also known he turned Diamondback. Severen also mentions that he and Jesse "started a fire in Chicago". This could be referencing the Great Chicago Fire that happened in 1871.
